Boots, Badges, & Livestock

(Updated: Feb. 23, 2026, 12:42 p.m.)

The Extension offices of Orange, Person, Chatham, and Caswell invite you to join us for our upcoming Boots, Badges & Livestock program. This specialized training is designed specifically for Animal Control, Law Enforcement, and First Responders across Caswell, Chatham, Orange, Person, Granville & surrounding counties.

The workshop will be held on March 17th & 18th, 2026 at The Grange Hall, 3416 Schley Rd, Hillsborough, NC 27278 and The Breeze Farm, 4909 Walnut Grove Church Rd, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541. The program begins at 8:00 a.m., with the program running from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Each day offers the opportunity to maximize the reach of the program over more than one shift or schedules for the organizations. The program will be the same each day as to reach multiple shifts, so you only need to register for March 17th or March 18th for the workshop.

Registration is free & we will provide water and snacks at both the Grange Hall & Breeze Farm.

This isn’t just a classroom seminar; it is hands-on field intensive. Extension Agents from across the region have designed this day to provide officers with the essential skills they need for livestock welfare assessments, husbandry identification, and safe animal handling in the field. By supporting this event, you are directly contributing to the safety of our local officers and the welfare of livestock in our communities.
