Welcome to Person County 4-H! 4-H is one of the greatest youth development programs in the nation. In fact, with millions of youth involved nationwide, 4-H is the largest informal education program in the United States.
4-H is the youth development outreach of the Land Grant Universities, Cooperative Extension, and USDA. It is made up of a community of young people learning life skills who are supported in this developmental process by caring adult leaders. 4-H’ers are actively involved in educational projects that are fun and that use quality curriculum incorporating the most current research and knowledge available through the Land Grand University System.
Here in Person County, we currently offer five 4-H clubs.
Livestock Club
Meets monthly on the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at 304 S. Morgan St., Roxboro, NC 27573 or Offsite at a local farm. – updates are emailed out prior to meetings each month. Youth will engage each month with a different livestock species including Horses, Donkeys, Chickens, Turkeys, Geese, Cattle, Sheep, Goats and even Bison! They will get to touch and learn about each of these animals and have the opportunity to even show/judge animals.

Sewing Club
Meets monthly on the last Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 304 S. Morgan St., Roxboro, NC 27573. Working on mini projects and larger quilting items! Opportunity to create products that can be submitted into the NC State Fair.

Hoof-Hearted Horse Club
Meets monthly on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at Barnwood Stables, 71 Victor Williford Rd., Roxboro, NC 27574. Club meetings consist of farm visits, community service projects and local fundraising to give back to Person County locals. The Horse club also competes at the local horse shows along with learning about horse care/maintenance.

Youth On Target (Shooting Sports)
Meets once a month, on rotating Sundays of each month at 2 p.m. at the Sheriff Department’s Range in Roxboro. Meetings will resume TBD. Disciplines include archery, .22 rifle, and shotgun. Youth must be at least 9 years old as of January 1, 2025 in order to participate in this club. LOOKING FOR NEW LEADERS

Homeschool Club – NEW (enrollment starts Jan 1, 2026)
Club will consist of biweekly daytime meetings that will be for 2 hours. This clubs goal is to be in addition to your homeschool curriculum and will cover whatever the youth desires to focus on learning from electricity, cooking, sewing, STEM projects, etc. This club will also focus heavily on public speaking, presentations and creating record books. We strive for students to participate in 4-H local, district, regional and state competitions/programs. (Lots of opportunities for scholarships for those looking for college resume builders)
4-H is open to all youth ages 5-18 (as of January 1st). Youth who wish to participate in 4-H club meetings, programs, contests, and events must be registered in 4-H Online. Active and returning 4-H’ers must re-enroll annually each January. Consult the NC 4-H Online Resource Page
