- The Person County Extension Community Association, formerly known as Home Demonstration Clubs, is hosting an Open House on Wednesday, October 9 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. for the community to help increase awareness, recruit new members, and have some fun! We will be celebrating ECA with time for food, fun and socializing with our members to learn about our goals of leadership, community service and education. If you have always wanted to be a part of a group of strong women, and men are allowed too, then this is the group for you. It will be at the Person County Office Building at 304 South Morgan Street. - From eating the right food to the perfect exercise routine, find the best path to a healthier and happier you. Join us on Friday, October 11 at 12:00 p.m. at the South Granville Public Library in Creedmoor for our “Healthy Living As We Age” workshop.
- Join the Extension Office booth at Lowes Home Improvement store on Saturday, October 12 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. for the annual Fire Prevention Day. There will be plenty of information on fire safety, food, entertainment, games, and more.
- At our “Developing Household & Food Budget” workshop on Tuesday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Berea Branch Library, we will provide information on determining needs vs wants, steps to creating a budget, strategies to track expenses, develop a food budget, and provide information on food assistance resources.
- There are steps that we can take to be safe and prevent fire and falls at home. Join the Extension Office at the Person County Senior Center for the Remember When workshop which educates older adults about home fire and fall safety along with providing fun in trivia game format. This workshop will take place on Monday, October 21 at 10:30 a.m.
- Having your annual checkups and health screenings done each year is extremely important. The Extension Office and other local groups want to make sure you have access to health screenings and information to improve your health and wellness. Therefore, Blue Cross Blue Shield is hosting a Health Screening Fair on Thursday, October 24 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the lower parking lot near the S Building at Piedmont Community College.
- SPECIAL HALLOWEEN EXERCISE CLASS!
It will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Person County Senior Center and YOU are invited! We’ll have a spooky good time with a fun 30-minute cardio, strength and flexibility workout, led virtually by a local personal trainer. This is an all-standing program with no floor work. All exercises are geared towards beginners and midlife and older active adults. FREE but advance registration is required by calling the Senior Center at 336-599-7484 or the Extension Office at 336-599-1195. **Please bring your own small pumpkin (2-3 lbs. pumpkin pie size) which we’ll use as a weight and then decorate.
