It’s Project Record Book season! Person County 4-H will be hosting a 4-H Project Record Book Drop-In Session on Thursday, February 8th, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Person County Office Building (304 S. Morgan St., Roxboro, NC 27573). Drop in at any point to learn more about project record books, receive advice, or get assistance completing your record book.

The county deadline for all Person County 4-H Record Books is Friday, February 23rd at 5:00 p.m. Please drop off record books before this date at the Person County Office Building, Rooms 123 or 159.

What is a 4-H Project Record Book?

A 4-H Project Record Book is a record of a 4-H’ers participation in 4-H over the last year. All Person County 4-H’ers are encouraged to submit 4-H Project Record Books detailing their work in 4-H during the 2023 year.

Why submit a 4-H Project Record Book?

Record-keeping is a classic and important part of participation in 4-H. Record-keeping helps youth process their own learning and fosters both self-awareness and responsibility.

Youth can submit their project record books to compete on a county and district level! District Gold Winners receive an award valued at $50.

What else do I need to know?

Age groups for competition are: 8-10, 11-12, 13-15, and 16-18. Age is determined by the age of the youth member on January 1, 2024. Project Record Book categories include animal science, communication arts, environmental science, science & technology, plant science, and more!

Youth can submit project record books that were previously submitted as a requirement for a 2023 program (Feather Classic, Central Junior Piedmont Livestock Show). Consider reviewing notes left with the record books and making changes as needed.

Project Record Book templates can be found on the NC 4-H Awards & Incentives website. Be sure to download the correct template for your youth’s age group and solicit the appropriate required signatures before submission.
