  • Join us for the next Extension At Home virtual workshop, brought to you by a collaboration of N.C. Cooperative Extension Agents. On Tuesday, September 16 at 10:00 a.m., learn the difference between cleaning and sanitizing, which cleaners are effective, and how to make your own green cleaning recipes. Green cleaning is a great way to reduce VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in the home and save some money! Register online at go.ncsu.edu/greenclean
  • On Thursday, Sept 18, 2025, the Partnership for Food Safety Education will unite health and food safety educators, the food industry, government leaders, and consumer advocates for a Collective Day of Action to shine a spotlight on food safety for kids. The goal? To make sure young people everywhere learn simple, smart habits that can keep them healthy for life. It’s a chance to spark a movement where the next generation leads the way in creating a culture of food safety and healthy practices.
  • The Person County Extension Community Association (ECA) is hosting an Artisan Market on Saturday, September 20 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.. Vendor spots will be available for $50. All proceeds will go to the ECA program to help provide community service, education, and leadership programs in the community. Spots are limited.   • New Grassy Creek Outreach Ministries are hosting their annual “Friendship Stew” Community Day event on Saturday, September 27 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.. This event will take place at the New Grassy Creek Missionary Baptist Church at 8182 Cornwall Road, Oxford, NC. They will have vendors, organizations, agencies, and businesses  out to set up a booth to share their information about what they have to offer our community. The Extension Office will be on hand with materials, information, and goodies. Everything is FREE but we do ask each one to provide 2 cans of food to help support our food pantry.
  • Take care of your body and get a brain boost through exercise to make it through the day/week or simply prevent the slow decline of certain muscles, joints, and ligaments from prolonged sitting. As we age, we lose muscle mass so it becomes even more important to exercise. Join us on Monday, September 29 at 12:00 p.m. for this virtual workshop on how to “Move It or Lose It”. Come and learn about the 4 different types of exercise and get moving with us. Register online at go.ncsu.edu/granvilleevents
  • Join us on Tuesday, October 7 at 12:00 p.m. for our Mental Health & Self-Care Lunch N’ Learn. We will provide practical ways to care for your mind and body. Whether you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or just curious – this event is for you. We will once again have Katrina Wesley as our guest speaker. She will talk about self-care planning, host a discussion on mental health, coping techniques and mindfulness. It is $5 to register and the money is due by October 3 to Room 123 of the Extension Office.
  • Come out on Saturday, October 11 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to Lowes Home Improvement Store for Fire Prevention Day, a family fun day of learning about fire prevention!!! This event is hosted annually by the local fire departments and the Extension Office plans to be on site with a booth promoting disaster preparedness, fire and cooking safety, etc. Hope to see you there!!
  • Holidays stressing you out? Let us help! Join us for the next Extension At Home virtual workshop, brought to you by a collaboration of N.C. Cooperative Extension Agents. On Tuesday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m., join us to learn about effective holiday budgeting and spending strategies that can help improve overall financial wellness.   • Person Family Medical & Dental Centers presents 50 Shades of Cancer. This year’s event will take place on Friday, October 24 at 5:30 p.m. in Piedmont Community College, Building S-100. While cancer has claimed many lives, there is still HOPE—and we are honored to feature powerful, inspiring voices that embody that hope. Come, bring your family and friends to enjoy an event filled with love, entertainment, supporting vendors, delicious food, door prizes, and more. You will leave knowing you’re not in this battle alone.
  • Person County Schools & Alliance for a Healthier Generation are teaming up with the Extension Office to host another Food Distribution event on Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at South Elementary School.
