Disaster Preparedness

— Written By

emergency prepSeptember is National Preparedness Month and as we end the month we have a hurricane off the coast of North Carolina and we are continuing to get more rain every day. Does your family have a plan about what they will do in the next few days if we experience a natural disaster? The NC Extension Service has information to help your family prepare before a disaster.

Anytime we experience a natural disaster or in-climate weather that makes people lose power at their homes, the calls we often receive are about food safety and whether or not the food in their refrigerator/freezer is food safe.

For more information, factsheets and details about disaster preparedness, check out the NC Disaster Information Center website through NC Extension.
