  • The Berea Branch of the Granville County Library System is hosting a recipe circle on Thursday, January 29 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.. They are inviting everyone to bring a sample of their favorite healthy eating dish and join us for a potluck to taste food, share recipes, and check out a variety of cookbooks. It is free and open to all. The Extension Office will be on hand to provide tips and tricks on healthy cooking and substitutions. Please call the library at 919-693-1231 to register so they know which recipes everyone is bringing.
  • Join the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences on Thursday, January 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. for the “Women’s Health Awareness Webinar Series: “Realtalk with the Experts”! This month’s topic is “Coping During Uncertain Times”, and they will provide strategies for managing stress and building resilience during times of uncertainty. FEBRUARY

  • The Versatile Pantry curriculum teaches participants to identify the benefits of stocking a few staples, find strategies for creating a stocked pantry, and discusses a variety of meals that can be prepared from a set of staple ingredients. Topics covered include: building a food supply, creative meal ideas, three-Day menus, and preparing for the unexpected.   • February is almost hear and in addition to the heart candies and the red flowers, we want you to remember to wear red on Friday, February 6, 2026. We wear red on the first Friday of February to raise awareness about heart disease and heart health, especially in women. You have the power to take action to protect yourself against heart disease. Join us to spread the word that when we take time daily to be heart-healthy, small acts like adding more moving to our day or choosing healthy foods, can have a big impact on protecting #OurHearts.
  • Ready to explore the powerful world of plant-based eating? Join us in demystifying what it means to eat plant-based, understanding the why moving toward a more plant-forward diet can be beneficial for your health, and learn how to navigate common barriers. We’ll answer questions including how to ensure you get all the necessary nutrients, offer practical ways to seamlessly add more plants to your meals, and provide a list of reliable resources to get you started. Join N.C.   • Every Friday, the Cooperative Extension Office hosts the Gardener’s Corner program on WKRX 96.7 Radio Roxboro. Be sure to listen on Friday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m. for the Family Consumer Science (FCS) Extension Agent, Jennifer Brown. Also, every Friday, the FCS program hosts a weekly 5-minute Food for Thought podcast around 1:00 p.m. You can also listen online at radioroxboro.com
  • 4-H and the Extension Community Association (ECA) program are excited to join forces for a Valentine’s Fun Day!! We will be doing a community service project, fun crafts and will even be hosting a live food demonstration!! Join us Friday, February 13 at 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Person County Cooperative Extension Building for this Valentine’s Day Event.
  • Our bodies need protein to be healthy and strong, but not all protein are equal. Join us in February as we celebrate Heart Health Month while focusing on the proteins in our diet. We can eat protein and still be heart healthy. Our February Lunch N’ Learn will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 12:00 p.m. at the Person County Office Building, and includes a healthy, delicious lunch along with handouts and materials. Registration is $5 and is due by the Friday before.
  • In collaboration with NC Humanities, the Person County Museum of History is thrilled to announce it will host the traveling exhibit Spark! Places of Innovation. In addition to the Smithsonian designed exhibit, PCMH will develop a companion exhibit “Igniting the Spark: Innovation and Invention in Person County. The Person County Extension Community Association (ECA) will be going on a field trip to tour the exhibit on Wednesday, February 18 at 10 a.m.. RSVP to Jennifer at the Extension Office.
  • Join us for a delicious morning celebrating American Heart Month. We are exploring the surprising health benefits of dark chocolate and how it can fit into a heart-healthy lifestyle. Who know taking care of your heart could taste so good? This “Sweet Heart Health” workshop focusing on chocolate and wellness will be held on Thursday, February 26 at 10:45 a.m. at the Person County Senior Center. Learn about Flavonoids and how they help lower blood pressure and receive tips on portion control and reading nutrition labels.
  • Spring into Health and Wellness with Delta. We are excited to share that the Roxboro Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is hosting a Health Fair on Saturday, February 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Piedmont Community College, Building S, Room 100. This family-friendly event will feature vendors, wellness resources, and a blood donation opportunity.
