April 27, 2020 Update Insect / Crop Report

Scout wheat fields for army worms – my moth count has gone way up this past week. Stinkbug counts are up in Person County. Black cutworm moths are still on the rise, so tobacco growers should be scouting small plants for worm activity. Tobacco bud worm counts are about the same as last week. Corn is going into the ground between rains and tobacco being transplanted. Some soybeans are being planted. Remember, scout fields go and look at the crop, especially in the first stages of growth. Like I have said before, uniformity is everything at the beginning.
