  • Join us for a Community Health Day, hosted by a variety of community organizations, on Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Person County Office Building. Let’s come together to uplift and educate our community on the importance of health.
  • Everyone should be aware of the types of scams you may encounter and how to protect yourself. Join us on Tuesday, April 9 at 12:00 p.m. for a virtual workshop to recognize the red flags that you’re being targeted so you can prevent it from happening to you!   • April is National Stress Awareness Month and you have two chances to join us for our monthly Lunch N’ Learn workshop on “Coping with Stress & Anxiety. Join us at the Person County Office on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. to learn about the difference between stress and anxiety, anxiety disorders, and tips on how to cope. Lunch and handouts will be provided at this workshop. Cost is $5 and must be received by April 5. Or you can join us for free at our Virtual Workshop on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m..   • Do you know what your blood sugar levels are? Are you on the borderline of diabetes? Do you need to practice healthier habits? Then, lets talk!! We are having a community reveal party that has nothing to do with having a baby. Our reveal party will give you a chance to Rethink your health, Evaluate your habits, Verify your A1C, Elevate your health awareness, Avoid diabetes, and Live a healthier, happier life. It will be held Thursday, April 18 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Person County Office Building Auditorium. There will be a free light lunch and door prizes. The event is free and open to the public but you must RSVP by April 12th by calling 336-599-1195 or 336-597-2204. We will start with free BMI screenings and A1c screenings (for those not already diabetic), offer a simple diabetes risk test and have information tables available for you to visit. Lunch will then be served and we will have a conversation about Preventing Diabetes in Person, which panelists of former participants of the Diabetes Prevention Program offered in the county.
  • Join us on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the South Granville Senior Center to learn more about the Mediterranean Way of eating and the simple steps you can take to improve your health. This way of eating has been shown to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attacks and strokes. Call 919-528-0848 to register for this workshop.
  • The Person County Extension Community Association (ECA) hope you can join us Friday, April 26, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Person County Office Building Auditorium for our Extension Community Association (ECA) yard sale. All proceeds will be used by our ECA County Council to help the community.
  • The Granville County Extension Volunteer Association (EVA) will award a $500 college scholarship to one youth and one adult this year. The application packet, found online or at our office, must be submitted to the Extension Center by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.   • To help people prevent diabetes, we are starting another Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) soon. We are having several Informational Sessions May 7, 16, 20, and 22, 2024 at the Person County Office Building to learn more about the program.
