Crop Update for June 14, 2018

— Written By

I am seeing tomato spotted wilt in fields plus lots of target spot scout your fields apply a preventative fungicide if needed. The tobacco crop will be struggling all year and under stress from shallow roots tobacco producers will have to water much earlier than anticipated. Still much uneven growth in all crops except wheat. The wheat has head smut, light test weight and stem diseases. Wheat yields is to be determined. The corn crop has quite a bit of uneven growth and will affect yields in the long run corn is taking up the nitrogen now and is doing better but the plants behind will be yield reduced. Soybeans seem to be doing well except areas that were flooded out. Scout your fields!
